my understanding is that markdown is supposed to be something that can be interpreted more or less the same between programs/apps

and yet somehow my first choice of a markdown text editor not only was noticeably missing some formatting bits, it also apparently didn't believe in things like word wrap and left the file I was working on manually chopped up line by line, which I only found out when I switched to a different editor. am I insane for thinking this doesn't make sense
