I started a run as a Child of the Hearth (for bonus strength and investment in skills with Cudgel weapons) and the carbide hand bones for my starting cybernetics (boost to unarmed damage; unarmed attacks count as "cudgel" weapons and notably do not have a cap on Strength bonuses)
in my efforts to run around outside Joppa and get some loot to afford a starting rifle, I instead found a scoped pump shotgun for free, as well as a PORTABLE BEEHIVE (worn on the back, produces honey over time which is good for cooking or trading, +200 reputation with flowers)
So my dude is a calloused old man from an underground arcology with blue metallic bones/fists and a shotgun with a scope on it, who has also suddenly become an amateur beekeeper on the go
Also he was so moved by talking with Khashind (who is, for those keeping score, an ex-mercenary deertaur lady and now a traveling guide for newcomers to Qud) and learning of her story that he immediately named his ring mail "in honor of her culture"
This all has happened within maybe 30 minutes of play before I even properly undertook either of the starting quests
