people being like "it's hard to sift through stuff on itch" is like. idk. skill issue. follow the devs you like. see what they rate. this is what collections are for!!

for the record, I keep a collection of the games I like a lot: https://itch.io/c/3612288/favorites
I'm still in the middle of writing my recommendations for games from last year (and other years that I only got to recently) but, if you want to know what I've been enjoying, I update this frequently.
I encourage you to rate and keep collections of games you like as well!
There's so many wonderful games out there waiting to be discovered, but they need your help, so talk about the games you like that you find!

in reply to @slitherpunk's post:

I can't get through my 200+ "to play" collection fast enough because I'm literally tripping over all the interesting looking games on there. They're literally everywhere but gamers have no sense of adventure. Also there's literally a tagging system..?

yeah :( had to recently help someone with this issue but once they got going they found their own weird little games to play that Ive never heard of, it really just takes a bit of effort...!

sorry if this is a dumb question, but as someone who has always struggled to discover new games on itch (to the point that i wrote a blog post about the only way i've ever been able to find anything there at all), how do i see what devs rate? i just scrolled down literally 2 years' worth of my itch feed and the only things on there are new releases and patches from the devs who i follow. i guess there's a chance that i only follow devs who don't rate anything on itch?

neither of those things are showing any ratings for me, and the collections are all just like "games i made". i guess i gotta follow more devs until i find some who like/promote other people's games. i had no idea that this was a way of discovering games on itch so thanks for mentioning it!
