The gods-in-flesh, bloody and mercifully fleeting;
The gods-in-aether, luminous and lingering;
The gods-in-the-depths, full of wealth's caprices;
The gods-in-endless-ash, frigid and strange;
And the gods-in-thought, devious and eternal.
Mortal bodies cannot long bear the attention of a god-in-flesh, and unless excised upon their death it will linger and fester, corrupting the land around it in its endless agony. Only within a host can it find the freedom of death.
