  • Nothing lasts forever, and that's okay. Things don't have to be permanent for them to be good. A beautiful day is not ruined by the sunset.
  • Nothing is going to replace it, and that's okay. Anything that tries is going to fall short by comparison. It just means you have to try something different.
  • Nothing will fix it, and that's okay. You will have regrets about not savoring your time enough, but the truth is that there's no such thing as enough. To crib from stoicism, if something is truly good, it is good regardless of how it is enjoyed. You did the best you could with the person you were and the time you had.
  • Nothing will make it heal faster, and that's okay. You can't control the ocean, only your boat. Do what you need to do to weather the storm.

As a person who passed high school biology somehow, I believe this is the best approximation as to the workings of an Eggbug.

The following anecdote is told of William James. [...] After a lecture on biology and the structure of the eggbug, James was accosted by a little old lady.

"Your theory that the eggbug is an organism like any other, and eggbug is driven by a brain much like those of most creatures, has a very convincing ring to it, Mr. James, but it's wrong. I've got a better theory," said the little old lady.

"And what is that, madam?" inquired James politely.

"That the eggbug is piloted by another, smaller eggbug."

Not wishing to demolish this absurd little theory by bringing to bear the masses of scientific evidence he had at his command, James decided to gently dissuade his opponent by making her see some of the inadequacies of her position.

"If your theory is correct, madam," he asked, "what pilots that smaller eggbug?"

"You're a very clever man, Mr. James, and that's a very good question," replied the little old lady, "but I have an answer to it. And it's this: The first eggbug is piloted by the second, far smaller eggbug, who pilots the second in turn."

"But what pilots this second eggbug?" persisted James patiently.

To this, the little old lady crowed triumphantly,

"It's no use, Mr. James—it's eggbugs all the way down."

cohost's whole vibe kinda meant that I viewed most artists on here as "guy from down the street who makes cool paintings" only now I'm looking up people's main accounts and realizing some of them have like Fifteen Billion Twitter Followers lmao

that quality to a space where you don't really know who's a "somebody" and who's a "nobody" has historically been a thing with many culturally significant hotspots and imo is a really important thing to exist. anyone who is able to make that sort of thing happen is a part of something special
