endlessforms

dreamworld photographer

  • it, she, they

and the mirror
not her waking,
aching body showed,
but endless forms,
from feathered fractal
edges spilling out
a snowstorm
swirling silent
in her eyes

been looking at george bain's beautiful book about the methods of construction for celtic art, and now i keep hallucinating knotwork when i close my eyes

i honestly wouldn't be surprised if knotwork was originally inspired by hallucinations, at least partially.

anyways this book is gorgeous. if any book deserves to describe itself as "lavishly illustrated" on the cover it's this one. but my gods, mr bain is a completely terrible writer. i can barely understand his sentences, they are so convoluted and hard to follow.

i'm glad he mostly does not rely on words to communicate how these figures are constructed, mostly expecting the reader to simply watch carefully and learn.
