I am still eyeing various niche game engines to make something small and stupid
AGS and nice and good, but I have zero understanding of adventure games as a genre and RPG Maker 2003 (no, I do not want to use any newer version) seems to refuse to work due to some compatability stuff (that I honestly can't bother to troobleshoot)
And now I have discovered GB Studio. It makes games for Gameboy. In year 2024. Yes. I am obsessed with that thing.
Three color limit for character sprites. Limited amount of unique graphics per scene. Fucking 160*144 resolution. Holy hell, it makes me sooooooo irrationally excited. Like, when the tutorial begins with "hey, you gotta optimize your shit to fit into gameboy limitations" I know it's gonna be a good time
(Also, a quick spritesheet WIP. Technicaly that's enough for four-directions walking animations, but I probably will tinker with side view a bit more)
