Kitty0706 is dead. Team Fabulous 2, his most well-known video, is also one of his later works, released less than three years before his untimely death in January of 2015. It closes with a song that suggests that something momentous has come to a close, and yet, that things never truly end if you stay true to yourself. You get the feeling that the next round will be another fever dream full of speedhackers and absolutely nobody even trying to cap the objective, but that they've learned from this incident: now, everybody is prepared to blow away the moon with The Power of Rock if they need to.

Kitty0706 is dead, and TF2, gmod, and youtube are far different beasts than they once were. Yet somehow, our communities remain, evolve, and adapt. Batman1138 and GreatDictator are out there making Team Neighborhood, a direct successor to Kitty's Moments with Heavy series. Doctor Lalve's sense of comedic timing and use of wacky sound effects are so on-point that I half-jokingly call him Kitty's second coming. You've got people like STBlackST making entire epic cinematic universes one stop-motion shitpost at a time. TF2 may not be getting updates, but between source code leaks and community servers, it could well outlive Valve. And the works of Kitty0706 are still there. People still rewatch them, still laugh and comment about what they mean to them. A whole reanimated video came out not that long ago.

The world keeps turning. It may seem dark at times. And we do lose things, and people. Yet somehow, we also keep them going. The internet lets us touch people in ways that wouldn't even have made sense just three or four decades ago. The little ways we share and remix and repackage can have so much meaning to people, the way we enjoy what we love by adding to it as people once did by retelling stories around the fire, the way the low bar to entry allows anyone to reach out with the most absurd and bizarre ideas and make people laugh. And despite our losses, despite our setbacks and mistakes...what we did here, will still be here. And the spirit of what we did here, will carry on to the greater internet, through inspiration and memory.

So hear me, friends: I won't be long. The Eggbug sun begs me to come back home, and it feels like we're ready for anything if you can wait for me.
