today's Stupid Concept: the Punchcard Toaster. you carefully poke little holes into a slice of bread in a specific pattern, then put the slice in the toaster, which reads the pattern of holes to determine how you want the bread toasted (light, dark, burnt on one side and raw on the other, sliced diagonally, etc)
