My wife ran into my office the other day, demanding my Nintendo 3DS, with the claim that she's going to hack it. Which she did.

I remembered there was a rust target for the nintendo 3DS: armv6k-nintendo-3ds.

Digging around some more I found some useful tools:

  • ctru-rs, a library that has all the hardware mapped out
    • Make sure to read their wiki, it has a very good guide
  • cargo-3ds, which allows you to build and run applications directly on the 3ds

The nice thing we found out is that when you start up the homebrew menu on the 3ds, and press Y, you can just run cargo 3ds run from any laptop in the same network and it. just. works.
