They're already saying that Mastodon federation isn't available at launch. I'm fully convinced this either will not ship or will be severely under-featured that it won't matter. Meta has billions of users already and more money than God, why would they care about the Fediverse?
Also it looks like the ""web version"" is only the bare minimum of showing existing posts/profiles and that's it. I doubt they'll have an actual web version in time. I'm not using a mobile-only service, dude.
Anyway I'm still convinced any service that tries to mimick Twitter to a T (cough Bluesky cough) has a to lose to an entity that doesn't have to care about scale, money, and moderation. To survive in a post-Twitter world you'll need to be different, not a carbon-copy.
