Okay people do realize that mastodon has thousands of instances and most of them don't succumb to constant drama, right? Honestly I almost never hear of drama that doesn't involve mastodon.art so just don't go on that server. Peoplemaking.games has literally never had any drama anything like that and the overwhelming majority of people on the fediverse never worry about stuff like that

You're allowed to not like mastodon and not use it. Its fine. But it's kinda shitty to see people who barely touch it misrepresenting what it's actually like

Everyone's social bubble is different. I didn't get what the "twitter = hellsite" thing was before musk took over. My bubble there was positive and supporting. I've moved to mastodon since and it's been fine. I miss being able to call out brands for messing up, and them actually responding, though.

From what I can tell even a bunch of the "drama" around mastodon.art is because they're quick to block people for being racist/instances for not curbing people being racist, which tends to throw people into firework displays of white fragility. But that stuff is literally what Mastodon is supposed to do - you administer things the way you want to and if other people block you that's their decision.

It has it's problems (perhaps the internet's highest density of ore-grade well-actually) but I've found the community around the instance I'm on to be friendly and interesting, I probably like it the best of the post-twitter crop.
