thought i'd check out Wild Hearts for a half-hour or so since I have access to it on EA Play Pro and played for 4 hours straight because it just will not stop throwing the coolest possible shit at you
the only screenshot i have is me ziplining around the hub area with ziplines i placed myself because it'll just let you do that for no reason.
it's basically Monster Hunter but made by the Dynasty Warriors folks which is a hard sell/unsell depending on who you are but here's why it fucking rules
- the combat feels GREAT (unsurprising, you gotta at least give the DW games that)
- the art direction is beautiful
- it has a system where you basically summon items using spiritual energy called Threads that you can use for traversal, base building, and combat encounters. stuff like stackable crates will let you navigate the environment but also let you climb atop them to leap off and deal a plunging attack with your weapon for a shitton more damage
- there's shadow of the colossus climbing on major bosses to overcharge your thread count and use special attacks
- did i mention you can build ziplines everywhere
- there's souls-style cooperative play where you can summon allies or help people in need
- ziplines
- It's EA but it's also Koei Tecmo and this is the first time EA has partnered with a Japanese developer to fund a new IP and experience and regardless of what you think of EA I think that's fucking awesome and that should be encouraged.
If you have basic EA Play you can do the 10 hour trial and you'll see more than your share of awesome shit in there. Highly highly highly recommend. The full thing is out in a couple days, I think.
