[guy who logs onto twitter twice a week now]

"yeah man i hate twitter now it's miserable. anyway can i get an invite for the site founded by the guy who made twitter and is also responsible for the majority of the things that make it one of the most toxic places on the internet, including the sale to its current owner? thanks man, the vibes there seem great"

i'd say people are fucking lemmings and it's embarrassing to watch but lemmings are like a foot tall, what the fuck is your excuse. i can't go a day without seeing a post about how someone wants to murder people like me and you're gonna drag me to a site that not just replicates that experience but is built on systems to abscond its owners/operators from responsibility of moderating it? fuck you. infinitely.

in reply to @erica's post:

it makes me feel so fucking insane! people are just grasping for a flavor of the week for their social media addiction and don't even care if they're jumping ship to another place that is JUST TWITTER AGAIN AND EVEN HAS THE ORIGINAL CEO AS CEO

honestly sad to think about a "revolution" in the future when we can't even get people to do the bare minimum.

people are so quick to forget that jack's vision was always counter to what would be considered a safe and comfortable environment. bluesky, from the outset, is designed to support more of what he wants than twitter ended up as. with the huge number of alternative services out there, it's completely beyond me why everyone is begging for invites for a place that promises to be even more of the same that we've been trying to get away from for years!!

Twitter folks have been going through this absurd stage of desperately "jumping ship" to any app that shows up, defend it with their lives, make a couple posts in there and then forget about it. Who even remembers the exact same thing that happened with Hive and its data breach.

Most baffling is everything I hear about this just sounds like...Mastodon? Down to being 'decentralized', and probably having the exact same pros/cons.

I'm so happy I found cohost right before twitter cut access to 3rd party apps. Sure I spend I spend a day being insufferable like someone going through withdrawal but now I've moved on and anyway the vibes here are amazing :)
