seeing the post of the finale gwitch art on twitter is making me so sad for what we're about to lose with the migration of JP users going to misskey. weird dark age of not knowing anything about japanese media/art, or at least not being able to ambiently consume it alongside western stuff

yeah like no matter what the future of social media looks like, even if there are some pockets that turn out to be good, the loss of how international twitter was is going to sting SO much and I feel like I don't see it acknowledged very often
i don't think it's a thing that's front of mind for most people and i wish it was because it might be the biggest draw of twitter. for better or worse, the entire world had equal share of space on my feed
Misskey is part of the fediverse so unless your instance blocks theirs¹ you can follow them just fine
¹ which isn't unlikely, misskey.io is blocked by some instances for hosting loli
yeah how instances have treated pawoo and mstdn gives me no hope for it not being flagged
idk about mstdn.jp but iirc pawoo has (historically at least) had serious moderation issues around actual csa

iirc they're sponsored by some "web3" companies but it's just activitypub no blockchain stuff internally
Yeah, this is the reason I'm still on twitter at all. A new game or anime comes out and your feed is full of people across the globe who can't understand each others' languages but all liking and sharing each others' memes and art. It's never going to be like this again, huh.
It's a lot...on Twitter I ended up following more Korean and Japanese users than anything else and many of them don't have links to other sites. If they end up drifting away onto another platforms its going to be a sad time. So much of the wonderful art that I have enjoyed over the last few years has really only been possible because of the uniquely global nature of Twitter.
