ok I was going to do this yesterday and then I forgot but this is fun and I'd like an excuse to write more so:
01 - Trick or Treat
We gave out candy on halloween night and we were really excited to have a bunch of kids show up again but there was less I think than we were expecting and the ones that showed up all showed up way later than we thought? Like between 7-9 which mostly surprised me because our neighborhood is next to an elementary school so we kinda thought it'd be a like "before dinner" situation.
For the most part, the kids are alright. It was really fun to see them in really cheap costumes. One of them was dressed as the Riddler but like, classic Riddler and I thought that was great. Lena answered the door for most of them and then Deb was like I wanna do one and it was two kids like 12 y/o-ish with road cones on their head and when she gave them candy one of them pulled a sheet over the cone on his head and said "My name is Klu.... and I'm in a clan" and Deb and I just stood sorta stunlocked by it. Very, uh, weird moment. I hope that kid learns what that actually means sooner rather than later.
02 - Backup of a backup
I ran into my first instance of "oh fuck I need to check version control for this file because I fucked up a layer and saved without knowing" and now I feel like a backup evangelist. Like idk almost ten years of using Dropbox for my work files and this is the first time that I can recall where I just truly fucked a thing up and actually had a backup for it going back multiple revisions that I could use to stitch together a fixed version. Next time the sorta annoyingly huge Dropbox renewal bill hits my inbox I'll at least get to go "Wow, this thing pays for itself!" and not feel like I'm entirely lying about it.
