French culinary terms just sound much better and are more clear in English. Also i was told by my cookery tutor that French is still used because it means that when working in kitchens internationally you still have a lingua franca (so to speak). This might not be true but it feels plausible to me.
"crème anglaise" reminds me of an expensive small desert
