I did it! One whole month were I watched at least one movie a day. I watched 42 films in January! Here's some continuing quick thoughts about each since the last post.
Apollo 13 - It's alright! A bit of a redemption with Ron Howard for me after watching Davinci Code which made me feel stupider the longer I watched it.
Oppenheimer - An almost flawless movie. I'm really cold on Nolan as a whole but this is a real phenomenal effort. Incredible authorial vision and maybe the best final moments of a movie I've seen in forever.
Blue Thunder - Roy Schieder unmatched, man. Fun movie. I wish there was even one good cop in the LAPD. That'd be cool.
8 Mile - Still a good movie!
Serenity - Absolute asswater of a film. I love the idea. I wish it was way more up its own ass about it. It really isn't. It's trying to be really serious (derogatory) instead of really serious. (insanely funny)
The Creator - Deeply flawed. Still thinking about it. Some really incredible worldbuilding in this.
The Company Men - I do not care about any of these people. I don't actually need to watch everything Roger Deakins worked on, actually.
An Action Hero - Really fun Bollywood romp of an action movie star who gets hunted by a mobster IRL.
The Fugitive - Crazy good thriller. Super tense throughout. Harrison Ford is great but Tommy Lee Jones really steals this one.
Anchorman - Rewatch since I hadn't seen it in forever. It's fine. Some parts are still funny. Other parts infected male culture in a way I deeply resent the film for.
Multiplicity - Awful. Keaton tried man but this movie is unsalvageable.
Memento - Fun to watch really early Nolan, where his ambition absolutely ran up against his available budget and skills. Good movie.
The Death of Stalin - Holy SHIT Jason Isaacs in this. Best introduction to a character I've ever seen lmao
DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story - I could copy/paste the Anchorman summary here and would be mostly correct, still!
