Seeing people describe a four-person worker coop as "grifters" made me realize how much some people have completely and utterly lost the ability to judge anything online in any kind of good faith.
I am positively exhausted by people who have been so neurologically injured by Twitter posts that they believe literally everything is a corporation or someone selling dick pills and that there is absolutely nothing in between, simply because for the last 10 years that is the only thing anybody on Twitter would ever talk about, even if they were discussing the same six entities over and over and over. Using activist voice against people who are obviously individuals and not part of a larger system is the number one thing that will make me disrespect somebody at this point, it's some fucking McCarthyite shit
I realize I never knew there was a name behind that principle. You learn something new every day I guess
I'm gonna need to keep that sentence in my lexicon. that is good.
uh what complaints could anyone even have? i haven't seen any of this cohost meta, so i have no idea.
personally i think this website is great already! i have 0 complaints, keep it just like this forever for all i care 🤷
Yeah, realistically, I was surprised to see @staff say the site was "languishing" in the financial update.
You could just call this feature-complete and I'd mostly be satisfied, even if there's still plenty of functionality I'd love to see officially implemented that I'm getting from userscripts/extensions in the meantime (CHUtils and @blep's Popover Notifications in particular), and stuff that could be easier (inline images!)
Good fucking post and more people need to see and read it. You can't make a more positive space by spreading negativity and I feel like that's lesson #1 for anyone coming in from other platforms. Things Should Not Work That Way Here.
and the opposite side of the same coin is that anyone who celebrates Mastercard / Stripe 's censorious garbage should also be blocked for that reason
i think a lot of people have fallen into the mindset that like...
cohost is meant to be The Good Social Medium, everything that people dissatisfied with other platforms want, and therefore must be perfect. thus, every minor (or significant) issue or failing on part of the website or its owners is a massive disappointment.
it's a weird as fuck way of looking at the site lmao.
fr a while back i had someone share their whole multi-paragraph effortpost rant about how assc are "stupid assholes" and expected to get praised and patted on the back over it. i don't get it man. why be like that as a person. it has to be so fucking exhausting
