was playing d2 with nat earlier and remembered the incredibly sick trailer they made for it in Japan around launch
in retrospect, incredibly "thats not really the vibe" trailer but also they got Teddyloid to make a song for it because he likes Destiny. also coming up with as flimsy of an excuse of "the various game modes are just like freestyle dancing" to justify having guys do cool moves in guardian outfits is a-ok with me
I don't know if it actually sold copies (so I don't know if it's objectively a successful video game ad) but I think this is still an all-timer video game ad. It's still pleasant to watch even though it's no longer a surprise
it is definitely not a great destiny vibes trailer, but it is still one of my favorite vibes trailers. the talent they recruited on every level to put that thing together does do a good job at creating a feeling of playfulness that has stuck in my head since it dropped, but i do have a soft spot for that kind of thing when its done this well
