and while we're on the subject, here's some advice: putting in the effort to make your content accessible is a show of dedication.
it means you care about the things you make, regardless of how time-consuming the process is.
of course if you really don't have the time, you could get someone else to do it!
in fact, once i upgrade to a computer with more space, i might let folks request subtitles to be made… we'll see

- i make subtitles in my editing software (final cut pro), which is an almost 6 GB install as of early 2024
- my drive only has 256 GB, and i have about 10 GB available at any given time (archivist's peril)
also i can't believe i've already had this computer for over 2 years (since november 2021)
