in reply to @atax1a's post:

even if it were financially sustainable, the culture developed here will eventually calcify into that of a little club with "whites only" as an unspoken rule. we know this because we are white passing, but not white, and every single clique around here freezes us out when it becomes clear that we aren't going to tolerate being treated like another white trans queer.

in the furry scene there's a few artists these wonderful looking group pictures based on IRL events and parties, wherein we recognize half of the people's fursonas, and we just know that if we say "oh, that looks like it was fun" to one of them, we'll get back something like "oh! i have no idea why you weren't invited to that, but you really didn't miss anything", because of the sheer number of times we've heard that from the tech queer scene too.

i'm trying to understand this and maybe learn to shrink my "white person blind spot" a bit? if that makes sense? but i don't think i have enough context - for example i don't know enough about regional culture to understand the seattle/bay area thing.

are you just talking about white users failing to notice and challenge their ingrained biases and thus behaving in discriminatory ways, or is there some aspect of "whiteness" to the culture itself?

in another comment thread you mention that you "aren't going to tolerate being treated like another white trans queer," but i don't understand what kind of treatment that is
