As long as I'm starting out on a new site here, I'm going to periodically re-post some of my older work.
days without yesterday was my first Twine project and was, honestly, way more than I could've handled. It was the first two scenes of what I imagined to be a full interactive novel, a near-future cyberpunk work about the nature of memory and how it relates to the self. The main character is induced with complete retrograde amnesia (under dubiously consensual circumstances). She's also given two different, contradictory explanations for how she came to be this way, making it unclear who is gaslighting her and who is telling the truth.
Decisions the player made about how they related to the main character's sense of self would change how other characters see her--as either as the same person she used to be, or as a different person living in her body. Additionally, there were a lot of scenes specifically about the nature of embodied consciousness--whether the body is simply a "house" for the self or inextricably entwined with it.
The setting and themes are something I want to revisit at some point, but knowing what I do now, I'd probably have to rebuild this project from the ground up. As it stands, it's still a pretty capable 1.5 hour demo, and especially for my first time using the engine, I'm still proud of some of the story beats and techniques I figured out to convey the story.
