APOGEE was my second piece of Twine fiction, and in stark contrast to my first project, was written entirely within the span of a single evening. It's rough around the edges, and isn't as tight as my later writing would be, but it's still one of my favorite and most effective things I've written.

It's a short, sci-fi horror story, scarcely 10 minutes long, about a person waking up from stasis somewhere in space. I love it because the horror is driven by an impulse I've always been fascinated with, and one that isn't initially obvious from the setup.

The thing I love most about this piece is the sense of timing. It's a difficult thing to achieve in Twine, but I worked hard to force the writing to hit certain beats at specific times, making it convey a very intentional sense of dread. It's a powerful technique that I kept revisiting in future games.
