The tooth pieces all around the head (there's even one up behind the head in the ball joint cavity!) to represent how hairy these guys are is probably my favorite thing across all of these builds. I love how hairy beetles are and I love how the designers love that too
abdomen shaping again 😌 Nothing screams bug to me quite like a segmented, pulsing abdomen; they're Weird and Wonderful and Bug
the teeny little curves at the top of the elytra where they pivot makes me happy; I love it on every beetle and here they are :)
the grubs!!! They didn't need to add them. They're not visible at all. It wouldn't surprise me if more people ask "what's with these white croissants?" than see them as grubs. But somewhere along the way someone said "hee hee what if we put some grubs in this dead log" and made it so. yes, ha ha ha yes
Not pictured, but this model feels like it has the highest amount of "we stuck this element here not because it's the one that makes the most sense construction-wise, but because we thought you'd appreciate more ___ in this color for your collection" pieces. In general lego likes to play with color and element deep inside complex snot shapes but they also just like to toss in neat pieces and it's fun.
