And that is the mid 2000's genre action flick best exemplified by 2004's Van Helsing and going up to Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. They were always these big, weird, messy plots with too much crammed in, but they were fun and dumb in a nice popcorn way and anyway I want people to recommend more films like them for me to have some dumb fun movies to watch that got overlooked.
And although I really do not like Van Helsing (I haven't seen it since it was in theaters, maybe I'll give it another chance someday), it is very much an Equilibrium to me (and I love equilibrium)
Gun Kata being math martial arts with gun was so dumb in the best possible and while I was looking at the more fantasy themed one this one absolutely belongs on this list from the sci fi side
