So I narrate my books, and right now I'm having a medical issue that makes sitting at a chair difficult. Apple's native speech to text program does a terrible job understanding me and also constantly inserts punctuation where it thinks I want it, which is rarely correct and makes cleaning things up even more difficult.
Google speech to text works well enough that I can and have worked with it before. (Other options on my phone are hard and moving my laptop is a nightmare because of how it's docked.)
So I look up if there's a way to use google docs speech to text when I'm on my iPhone. And I go through three fucking pages before I find a simple "no" in a Reddit thread. Everything before that was reams and reams of posts about how to use Apple's native speech to text (useless to me) or sites advertising apps (that were sketchy and didn't do what I wanted) or explaining how to use google docs speech to text on my Android or Desktop (again, useless) or advertisements for things only barely related to my search.
Google has become borderline useless. Apple is a nightmare of proprietary bullshit. These two companies together dominate a significant portion of the tools we use every day - and the companies that dominate the rest of the tools we use are just as bad.
Anyway, just needed to vent. Now charging my old Android phone and hoping I can get it working well enough to do what I want.
