this is also why the realm of computers likes abstraction. the further away from fire (which was stolen from the gods) the less the gods will decide to act on you for any given offense. Someone else used the fire, you're just buying the yield. This, you might surmise, is why there was such a sharp drop-off in bug-related problems in the switch from mechanical steam driven computing aparatus, to the transitional relay logic (where running a mildly complex calculation requires significantly more fire), to the fully-electrical computing machinery of the current era.
So what I'm hearing is if we want to kill our gods we should plan it in the digital realm, where we are furthest from the flames that serve as their eyes.
