have you ever thought about how in the background of Star Wars there is a corporate shadow war going on between Sienar Fleet Systems and Incom Corporation
ok so Sienar Fleet Systems is a starship manufacturer in Star Wars who basically acts as an independent actor on the galactic stage, and during the early clone wars they mostly manufactured a bunch of the Republic's landing vehicles (& a couple weird ships like the Stealth Corvette) but for unknown reasons by the end of the Clone Wars they had gone bankrupt and were bought out by the Banking Clan, who were big-time CIS guys (enemies of the Republic).
MEANWHILE, Incom Corporation had taken over most of the commissions for the Republic Navy since Sienar was out of the picture. A lot of the late-era Republic ships like the ARC-170 were Incom designs.
When the CIS were defeated at the battle of Scipio, Sienar's holdings became property of the Republic. Incom seems to have fallen out of favor with the new Empire, so they stop making ships for them directly. Incom instead starts making a bunch of civilian ships and stuff, like the T-47 Airspeeder.
Now, sometime in the early Imperial era Incom gets nationalized by the Empire. So now both Sienar and Incom are technically "Imperial manufacturers". BUT, Incom's brand new T-65B X-Wing, originally designed as an Imperial starfighter, is too expensive for the Empire to buy in large numbers.
So as Incom falls out of the Empire's favor, they turn to the (also nationalized) Sienar again to develop a bunch of ships, but most importantly the TIE/ln Space Superiority Starfighter, more commonly just called a "TIE Fighter". The TIE Fighter is cheap! It's flyable! The Empire buys a billion.
MEANWHILE, those "civilian ships" that Incom had manufactured while independent suddenly start popping up being used by the nascent Rebellion, and they're used in HUGE numbers. As it turns out, when the Empire didn't take the Incom deal, they turned around and sold all those X-Wings to the Rebel Alliance. Easy money baby
So now Incom's X-Wing is now fighting Sienar's TIE Fighter regularly, and would do so basically until the end of the Galactic Civil War. And then the Rebellion wins that war and creates the New Republic, and a bunch of old Empire guys go off and make the First Order. And the New Republic makes laws that make it illegal to manufacture weaponry for the First Order.
BUT THEN, Sienar creates a new company called Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems in order to get around that sales restriction and sell directly to the First Order. At the same time, Incom becomes the main manufacturer of (you guessed it) the New Republic's shiny new T-70 and T-85 X-Wings.
So after fifty years or whatever these two companies are STILL basically creating weapons to throw directly at each other. Corporate shadow war animates the entirety of Star Wars. That's the "wars" they're referring to in the title of star wars. thank you
