edit: post outdated after Leech changes
Playing finicky combo decks in Marvel Snap is nicer than in many other games for two main reasons:
-
Your deck is only 12 cards and you draw most of it: you often draw your combo.
-
Snapping and retreating lets you rank up with a <50% winrate: you can do decently with an inconsistent combo deck.
Anyway, I played 50 or so games in order to verify some stuff for this post, only drew my verification-combo once, and lost like a week of ranked progess in the process.
With a little further ado, here's what may be the worst combo in Marvel Snap:
Part 1: The Tribute to the Combo / Verification
If you retrigger your on-reveal effects with Odin, they'll go off regardless of where the cards end up. Thus, if you Odin on a location with Viper and Doctor Octopus, you can actually give your Doc Oc to your opponent before it triggers!
Verifying that this would actually work (that Doc Oc/Odin would actually behave this way) was a pain in the ass. Odin has a 50% chance to target Doc Oc before Viper and Viper has a 50% chance to give your opponent Odin instead of Doc Oc and also this combo takes 5 cards to pull off because you need to use Iron Fist to push Doc Oc into the Viper location so that there's actually space on the other side for Doc Oc to be sent there and trigger.
Here's the game where I actually got this to work:
(My opponent moved Doc Oc with Arnim Zola, but The Infinaut and Giganto got pulled there before that.)
Part 2: The Actual Combo / Leech yourself for a buff from Patriot
With the innards of snap revealed to Actually Work Like That, here's the outline for the worst Marvel Snap combo I can think of.
Pulling this combo off requires specific locations, perfect draw order, perfect RNG, and your opponent to not do anything, so I'm not sure how humanly possible it is. It's fun to think about though.
Requirements:
Turn 1: Kamar Taj is the first location.
Turn 2: Project Pegasus is the second location, giving you 7 total energy. Play Viper and then Leech on Kamar Taj.
Turn 3: Play Patriot elsewhere.
Turn 4: Play Iron Fist elsewhere.
Turn 5: Play Doctor Octopus on the location to the right of Kamar Taj, so it's pushed into Kamar Taj.
Turn 6: Odin. Viper must trigger first, donating Leech and Doc Oc (trigger is doubled because of Kamar Taj). Then, Leech triggers. Then, Doc Oc pulls the now ability-less cards from hand onto the field. Finally...

πππ they receive the patriot buff! πππ

and then you win or something idk
