I picked up Baldur's Gate 3 earlier this week because hype works on me and I wanted to scratch the DOS2 itch when my coop partner for that game wasn't around. That game is fun! But also...look, last night when I was playing there was a locked door in a dungeon I was exploring and I had the thought "well then, I'll just throw some oil on that door and burn it with a fire spell!" cuz that's 100% a thing you can do in DOS2. Didn't work--couldnt find a way to get oil out of a nearby oil barrel* and onto the door, and throwing a fireball at the door didn't damage it at all. Had to go to the next room in the dungeon and do a fight there before unlocking it. The game is good and huge and an accomplishment and I'm honestly really liking it but also I can't shake the feeling that It's Just Fuckin D&D

*Ok I could've tried throwing the barrel at the door BUT the line of play that I was thinking of was using one of the dozen bottles in my inventory to take some oil and throwing it at the door instead. After realizing that it's not really a thing you can do I dropped all the bottles.
