the more i see this particular approach to ordered dithering for colors, the more i really appreciate the cleanness of the resulting hues. it's really inspiring; it makes me want to implement an ordered dithering mode into my own janky mess of cython
for info's sake - this was done with a 2x2 Bayer matrix, which has a pretty different pattern/look to 8x8 - which is more accurate
also, if you want more detail using a gradient of the colour at varying lightnesses helps. A single lightness means you get a more retro look.
