With the everyone disliked that decision made by Serif's management to make luxury yacht money and throw their customers into the woodchipper by selling their business to Canva, they are on full damage control, and what a beauty, it's a pledge, folks!!!!

I would like to remind everybody who may have seen this blog post that:

  1. A pledge is not a binding legal agreement. This is crisis PR.
  2. There are many ways Canva can make the product worse for you, and they don't have to involve subscriptions.
  3. A big tech company never turns the screws immediately. You will start seeing the product get worse in a few years, or just completely shut down because the investors tried too many ways to bleed it dry and it totally collapsed.
  4. Serif told us a year and a half ago they wouldn't sell.

The only people who have any control over the direction of this product are the people who own it, and that is Canva and its investors. And no matter what they say, they will only pretend that they want what you want until it inconveniences their goals of having a money number that's bigger this year than it was last year.

Do not trust what this company says because its word is only as good as what will keep it getting paid.
