one of the things that’s really confused me about people’s (read: youtube’s) reaction to the iphone 15 is people complaining about how the back glass is more fragile than the 14. the reason why isn’t a change in materials or anything, but instead it’s because the more rounded corners of the phone mean that more of an impact goes into the glass back over the metal side. but like, for years people have been complaining about the sharp metal edges of the 12–14 and how the phone doesn’t feel ergonomic. i’ve seen people say “why can’t they give the phone the same rounded edges of the 4 and 5?” and now that apple has, people have turned around and complained about the natural consequences of doing exactly what they wanted. you can’t have it both ways!
anyways, i guess it all doesn’t matter when everyone sticks their phone in a case, meaning that the case determines both the ergonomics and impact profile, so it doesn’t really affect anyone in the real world
