When I was younger, all of the projects I followed - webcomics, video producers or collectives, niche forums, game projects, etc - had their own website. Though discoverability was obviously very low, I do miss those days of having 10 or 20 unique sites to dig through every day instead of just thumbing down on One Shitty Site that Everyone Posts On.
Why do we allow 3ish, 4ish websites to be our entire experience online? Twitter, Discord, Tumblr, Meta and Google-owned monstrosities all tell you "You don't need anything else. Stay here, get us ad revenue, maybe pay us for better features, and you won't need anything more."
