Vectorman himself feels great to run and jump with, but every enemy immediately pelts you the second they enter the frame. 3 lives, no continues, it's pretty rough to finish. I definitely savestated starts of new levels, though I do think with some perseverance, you could memorize stages well enough to get through it, one day. Despite how quickly you die, enemies can be pretty frustrating to kill, either wiggling around, evading your shots deftly, or requiring a ton of fire before you can continue. It feels like if the game were zoomed out just a bit, it would be a lot more managable. It looks great though, Vectorman's animations flow very well and there's lots of visually interesting stages; I loved all of the TVs in the propaganda machine stage, and the stage 1 flags always impressed me. theres some killer tunes but a lot of them are drowned out by the constant CHOOCHOOCHOO of your hand blasts.

mostly played this as context for vectorman 2 which i have a lot more nostalgia for. I played it a bunch (poorly) as a kid on Sega Smash Pack 2, so here's hoping it does a little better. vm1 final score, yes i savestated
