It is unclear what benefits would even be gained if they succeed in playing games on 86box instead of dosbox

oh my god i have ancient F77 code that probably originated with Czech scientists in the 1980s that only runs in DOS and is considered the accepted "verified known quantity" in our field and i have an entire infrastructure based on a library that wraps the entire process of emulating DOS, writing inputs to a file, running the program, and parsing the output into a function call and it's the most godawful cursed thing i have ever worked with

dosbox: "for the love of gods don't use this for anything important"
