archipelago is a cooperative game randomization system that a bunch of us in this server play regularly together which is a super great way to get into the randomization scene and is a great way to get a fresh take on games you enjoy while playing with friends. do you enjoy speedrunning or challenge runs? do you enjoy playing co-op with friends but have a hard time with scheduling? our server archipelago group may be for you!

what is a randomizer?
randomizers as a concept started primarily for metroidvanias but in addition to games you might expect like the framework has been implemented in a ton of games, the usual suspects like Super Metroid and various Zelda games, Hollow Knight, and Pokemon, but also games like Stardew Valley, Factorio, Starcraft 2, and The Witness which become pseudo-metroidvanias, where important items are randomly given as rewards for different objectives within the game with everything still organized in such a way that you will get everything required to complete the game without getting stuck, just in a different order than usual, this may sound intimidating but it's honestly really not that bad as long as you know the vanilla game pretty well, and there are trackers that can help facilitate learning, and we have a bunch of people with experience in a variety of games here that can help you out, it's also extremely customizable so you can make it as easy or as difficult as you want

what is archipelago?
archipelago is a system that takes a bunch of people's randomizer games and smushes them together so instead of the items needed to beat your game being in your game, they may be in someone else's game instead, this creates a really fun cooperative experience where everyone is working together to help each other complete their games, this is completely asynchronous so you can play whenever you have time, normally our expected run time for games ranges from a day or two to about a week depending on what games are being played and how much time everyone has, I highly recommend giving it a try, I had never done any randomization stuff and very little speedrunning before giving it a go but now it's one of my absolute favorite things to do with friends, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask or join!

you can see the list of currently officially supported games in the first link, and unoffically supported in development games at the second link, take a look to see if there's anything you'd be interested in playing with us: https://archipelago.gg/games

we host on the official archipelago server, which means, to my knowledge, no identifying information is shared besides the slot name you choose (the console doesn't show ip addresses or anything)
