they have an ARM computer and a bunch of SD cards with different linux installations on them, one for each headmate, and they swap out the SD card whenever they switch
sounds like a pain in the ass but also it'd be a REALLY good bit. bonus points if different headmates run different distributions

EDIT ok am actually thinking about this more and if you all wanted to use NixOS and you wanted a way to force yourselves to centralize your configuration in one place and build out a way to share the common configurations everyone wants between headmates this would make you do it reeeeaaaal quick to not lose your mind but it'd be so coool
bonus points if you put the sds on a carousel so that all you have to do is push a button to select the disk.
