if you make a really long post without a read more and you do it in such a way that it breaks cohost's auto read more then i'm just going to silence you so i don't have to deal with your bullshit.
this has been a psa

if you use the phrase "be normal" as if it's something to aspire to, kindly take a long walk off a short plank. or block me. whichever is easier for you.

i have no idea how the "read more" insertion works. like at what point does it add it, and why do some posts seemingly have it while others dont? it's so opaque
it's really simple except when it inexplicably breaks for specific people. i've copy/pasted actual source from code blocks and when i post it, there's a read more. when they post it, it's just a horizontal bar.
it's SUPPOSED to work by adding --- preceded and followed by a blank line. the read more link shows up where the --- should be.
yeah i've seen (and used) that but like sometimes posts just get it put at a random cutoff point without the horizontal rule. and sometimes even posts that have the rule just get it skipped over. like is this just rng or
if you put --- but don't put a blank line before or after it then you get a regular horizontal bar.
the site is SUPPOSED to cut all posts that are 1.5 times the height of your device's screen at the 1.5 screens point. this is where the "rng" part comes in. it's kind of a catch all to keep me from having to silence posts when users aren't paying attention to the fact that posting 1.6749 MILLION screenshots is like pages of scrolling and very rudely do not put their own read more. of course, if you're one of the rare users that the read mores don't work for then you're just fucked.
holy shit it's based on screen height?????? that's kinda fucking unhinged what
it really is the best metric if you're going to provide a sane automatic cut off for the viewer.
p.s. i just realized you might have read that wrong because i probably worded it poorly.
the auto stuff only happens on the viewer's side. the size of the screen of the author has nothing to do with the auto stuff.
