Eggbug took my copy of The Divine Comedy, which is a 1901 revised translation by Henry Francis Cary. It was going to be thrown out at a library I once worked at, and I rescued it. I studied Dante a lot and wrote my capstone on him so like, it's a book that's important to me lmao

oh I love old book smell, it's one of the best things about a really good library. haven't yet gotten through the Divine Comedy and I'm not happy about that! I was planning to read Dorothy Sayers's translation
Not a bad choice. I don't have any recommendations on translation, other than to find one that has good footnotes lol cause having historical context is EXTREMELY important. Dante doesn't give a shit that you don't know who some 1400s Italian politician was.
