Damn, doing commentary for Hop On last night was so much fun. I really wanna keep going with it. It’s really fun building energy off what’s happening in-game and letting myself ride that, but also I really appreciate how it’s motivation to learn a lot more of the game too. I feel like I tend to be pretty motivated by practicality when learning things. So a lot of times in discord people will be talking about nuances of the Lance/Metera matchup or something and it’s like “okay cool this is interesting but also not really directly applicable to me so it feels a bit like pointless trivia from my standpoint” but doing commentary actually really benefits from having knowledge of any random matchup and makes that trivia feel rewarding. And similarly, not that I don’t already enjoy doing this, but it’s just further motivation to talk to everyone in the scene and hear what they’re working on, what their goals are, who their bracket demons are, and so on, to be able to highlight those storylines when they’re on camera.
