I mostly post about fighting games, adventures outdoors, books and stories I’ve appreciated, cooking, and perhaps some art

with all the free time i’ve had lately since quitting my job, i’ve been spending a bunch of reading, and it’s been really nice taking a book with me to a park and settling down for an hour or two to read there. it works out really well since i can generally go mid morning on weekdays when parks are mostly pretty empty, so can have plenty of peace and quiet to read without distraction.

it’s been a really nice way of spending a bunch of relaxed time outdoors and enjoying the summer weather, and it’s really enjoyable listening to the chirping and cawing of birds as i read, looking up from my book and taking a break to see if i can spot them in the trees around me, or watching insects flit around.

i’ve mostly been going to gasworks park and fremont peak park, since both (fremont peak especially) are easy, enjoyable walks from my place and have nice views, but i’d like to try branching out more too. next time i head to the beach to swim i’m probably gonna bring a book to do some reading there, and it might be nice to bike to magnuson park on lake washington one morning to read there (esp since one of the books i’m currently reading, nature obscura (which i’m probably gonna make a post about soon once i finish it as i’ve been loving it), has me wanting to check out its marshy areas).
