the artist's alley proposal seems interesting because right now there's a weird disconnect structurally between what is visible to creators--the tags that are most popularly attached to posts--vs what the actual behavior of cohost users is--what tags are most popularly browsed by the user base. it's not really possible to target a particular audience well at all. I know there's this whole contingent of early adopters here who go completely rabid any time you suggest that cohost might not be 100% feature complete, but it... actually seems like a problem if a base of artists and a base of people who want to look at art don't have a way of finding each other! like, on the audience side, I like looking at art of hot lesbians. I have found it kind of annoying to find art of hot lesbians on this website. that's a structural problem of discoverability, not just, like, a quirk or something the user base needs to "get used to" or w/e.
the idea of a site feature that could both bring in income, give me on the creator side the ability to actually get seen by people who'd be interested in my stuff, and give me on the audience side an easier way of finding the kind of art I'm interested in, seems pretty ideal.
