There’s a reason we defined every battleship after this era by one singular ship- because shit like this is what battleships were before Dreadnought
even as someone with zero comprehension on boats i can tell this is. Something. are all of those ports for guns. what the fuck.
THEY SURE ARE! Yeah, in this period they kinda tried to make battleships Do Everything, so they had a ton of different guns for fighting everything from swarms of torpedo boats (hence all the gunports) to cruisers to other battleships, which really just lead to a mess of turrets all firing different shells of different sizes over different ranges- Dreadnought kinda revolutionized this (well, about three different ships in actuality, but Dreadnought was first,) by making the Battleship a more specialized ship meant for just fighting other ships of the line with an all-big-guns main armament, and getting away from… this
on one hand yeah that makes sense, better at one job. on the other i can feel rel pointing at this and saying it needs even more guns

🌊No kill like overkill, after all. Needs more turrets on deck. More guns than crewmembers. The engine should be explosive-powered, like a non-nuclear and aquatic Project Orion.
