So! I've been hosting a small monthly furry meetup with a local arcade in the greater Houston area! We come out to the arcade at the end of every month, bring fursuits if we got em (you don't need one to join!), and play some games for a few hours. Okashi is predominately rhythm games (with an insane selection imo), but they also have a wall of racing games, a back room of fighters, and a few more general games scattered throughout. There's also some BYOC setups if you wanna bring something else to show off! Last time we went out there, one of my roommates dragged their entire desktop and had a MUGEN setup running...

It's fairly low-investment imo! $10 (+tax) per body gets you free play on every game on Sundays, the meet isn't too big (usually single digit headcount) and it's okay to just come play games and vibe with the crowd! I'm personally kinda introverted, so don't be shy about saying hi or just talking about whatever at me if you want ;w;

Full meet details below the cut for anyone who can't read the flyer image:

kemonOkashi: the unofficial okashi furry meetup

Where: Okashi
6065 Broadway Street
Pearland, TX 77581

When: The last Sunday of every month
(for the rest of 2024: September 29th, October 27th, November 24th, December 29th)
1-5pm (feel free to arrive late if there's a schedule conflict!)

Details:

  • On Sundays, $10/person freeplay admission (plus tax, cranes cost extra)
  • Fursuits and other costumes allowed (and appreciated!) by management and all staff
    • Fair warning: the arcade is a little densely-packed with games, so big suits and floor-dragger tails aren't the best idea
  • As of this writing, they allow outside food but not drinks - snacks and beverages can be purchased at the front counter
  • Arcade staff and regulars are extremely welcoming to queer identities of all kinds - just keep it something you could show around a kid and you're good
  • We do a group photo toward the front of the arcade around 4:30 - anyone's welcome to be in it, but you don't have to!
  • Since I don't know if their Discord invites are stable, check their website for one - the most up-to-date game list is also on ZiV if you wanna check before you go

this isn't usually something I'd blast across the wider internet, but all the chosties I've met have been chill so
