Iron Maiden was my first metal band. Rush was my first progressive rock band. I used to love both, but now I can barely listen to either. My tastes changed a few years ago, and now listening to more than a few songs by either band bores me.
I told this to a lady I met at an airport, and she told me to give it more time. "Give it a decade – you'll come back to them and remember why you liked them." Every time I try listening to them again, I think of her advice. Maybe one day I'll be able to enjoy my old favourite bands again.
