When Jared Winter of Wichita, Kansas first saw the meme of his dreams online, he knew it would come to define his life from that moment onward.

The meme

The meme, which depicts a man standing in a white shirt and white shorts while clasping his hands, was first uploaded in 2014, but it took until 2016 for it to gain fame and recognition. Jared first saw it in 2019, and he was immediately taken in by it.

The motivation

"That picture... it's just a guy, you know?", Jared said, in an exclusive interview. "It's just an ordinary guy. He's got a white outfit and a nice watch. He's got a big smile on his face. I think he's fashionable. I want to be as fashionably ordinary as he is."

The result

Now, four years after he first saw the image, Jared has come closer to achieving his dream. He lives an ordinary life, dresses in white shirts and shorts, and has the normal interests of a man his age. It took him years of effort and a slow, determined remolding of his interests, but he did it.

But why?

But why would he choose to do such a thing? Why would he choose to change who he was just so he could fit the image of someone he saw on the internet? His response was simple:

"You know I had to do it to em."
