Now when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
And the night is so black that the darkness cooks
my first thought for "witch weather" was of a rainy autumn evening - the kind of weather that's perfect for brewing both tea and spells. but as i thought about it more, i remembered the opening lines to "the green manalishi".
it's a song by fleetwood mac - the old fleetwood mac, back when peter green was still in the band. he wrote this song. the verses are underscored by tentative, muted guitar. the vocals descend into eerie reverb. odd guitar stings leap out at you from the side. the second half, with its wordless howling, leaves me with chills.
this is a song best listened to on dark, windy nights, when the magic runs high and the spirits seem to creep around you.
