Holy crap, a friend of mine nearly died at work today.
They were asked to go in with waders and check on a stuck valve that helps control salt when processing certain foods. And as the new hire, they really didn't feel comfortable saying no and trusted their supervisor's judgement.
Everything looked fine because the water in this tank was only up to their ankles when they tried stepping into this pickling vat.
But as soon as they tried to move over to where the valve is supposed to be, they lost their footing on the slanted bottom.
The brine went up almost to their neck and someone has to hit the E-stop, shut everything down and three others just barely manage to pull my friend out.
Now they're really pissed because apparently it's a major work safety violation not to have a sign or anything warning people that dill waters run steep. 🥒
